Giuseppe Ficarra is a postdoctoral research associate at CCRG working with Prof. Carlos Lousto. Giuseppe obtained his PhD in the Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology group at King's College London, under the supervision of Prof. Helvi Witek. He completed both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees at La Sapienza University of Rome.

His doctoral studies mainly focus on the interplay between black holes and non-trivial matter fields in the context of gravitational wave astrophysics, using both analytical and numerical techniques. Specifically, he explored the superradiant instability phenomenology triggered by axion-like particles (compelling dark matter candidates) around single rotating black holes in the case of multi-mode initial data. Additionally, he studied the interaction of these ultralight scalars with binary black holes, by investigating their dynamical features and analyzing imprints on the gravitational wave signal using numerical relativity.

Giuseppe's current research interests include the merger of compact objects, such as black holes and neutron stars, and investigations of dark matter candidates based on the dynamics of compact objects.
