Marcelo Ponce joined RIT as a PhD student in Astrophysical Sciences and Technology in fall 2008. He is currently working on research projects with the CCRG's Numerical Relativity group under the supervision of Yosef Zlochower. Before, he was part of the Field Theory workgroup at the Physics Institute in the Faculty of Sciences, Universidad de la Republica of Uruguay. His research interests range from numerical analysis to theoretical astrophysics. He has done published work with Rodolfo Gambini (MS advisor) and Jorge Pullin (LSU) in the discretization of quantum gravity and in numerical relativity.
