PhD Student Astrophysical Sciences & Technology, College of Science (COS)
Andy joined the AST Program in the fall of 2012. He is currently working with his advisor, Sukanya Chakrabarti, studying dwarf galaxies. He has used the 100-m Green Bank Radio Telescope to find dwarf galaxies around distant spiral galaxies and the Henrietta Swope Telescope at Las Campanas Observatory to observe a potential new dwarf galaxy around to Milky Way. Andy has also worked with test particle codes to study the distribution of dwarf galaxies around the Milky Way and to develop scaling relations between the distribution of gas in host galaxies and passing substructure. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing and last spring competed at the Colligate Climbing Series National Championship representing RIT.
